Va Tech Tailgate in Belmont, MA

This weekend, my family (father and brother) were in town (Belmont) to see the Hokies take on the Boston College Eagles. Unfortunately, the game did not turn out the way we wanted, but the tailgate was great! More pictures later.

INTERNET

I am not sure if you have ever had the experience (in the Internet Age) of living without Internet at your house for any reasonable length of time, say a week or two. Well, Stacey and I FINALLY got Internet service installed at School St. It's been a month--WAY TOO LONG.

It's not easy to come home from work ever day, and NOT be able to check your email. We are planning our wedding now, and one thing we are working on is the invitations and save-the-dates. So, we wanted to visit a paper store in the area that a friend recommended. We had to CALL (like, on the phone) the store to see what their hours were. And we used their catalogue to get their address, then instead of searching on GoogleMaps the location, we had to wing it on the bus.

Well, needless to say, we survied. I would NOT recommend (or wish it upon my worst enemy) to go without the Internet for even a day, but I know that you probably will survive. And thanks to everyone out there who waited all weekend for me to return their emails--you will no longer need to wait.

PS: Verizon FiOS is pretty nice!

Hillary, Hillary, Hillary!!

Great speech by the Senator from New York and former First Lady, Hillary Rodham Clinton. She did a wonderful job of making her party, her position, and the candidate she supports (Sen. Barack Obama) sound amazing. Granted, I already supported Barack, but I was amazed at the rhetoric she used to detail and describe this great country. She appealed to her senses by NEVER shifting from the political platforms she advocates for currently. And finally, she tied it all into a wonderful representation of WHY we should vote for a democrat, and MORE specifically, Barack Obama!

I am looking forward to former President Bill Clinton's speech tomorrow night, and ESPECIALLY to Barack's on Thursday night. Sen. Obama has some LARGER shoes (high heels in this case) to fill!

Peace,

PS: Watch another wonderful speech by a super woman, Michelle Obama.
PSS: A link to other videos from the Convention. And to videos from Obama's website.

The End of the School Year

While many student (and teachers) have been on summer break and said their goodbye's, I finally ended my school year today. The daycare works full-time through the summer, and today was the last day for our students in our classroom.

Most of them (all but 3) will be moving on together to the Blue Group, so I will see them around the center. I am very proud of their accomplishments (and of my own!). They learned a lot, but I think I may have learned more. It was be great to look back at their time here at the Daycare with they are famous.

The new school year start Tuesday 2 September 2008. The teachers in the Red Group with me will be working hard to clean up the classroom the next three days. Pulling long hours with little sleep and too much bleach is never fun. I am looking forward to the new year to start!!

Congratz, Michael Phelps!!!

Eight for eight (8 gold medals). And they say you don't have gills?!?!? Congratulations on your Olympic success! You set 7 world records, and one Olympic record this year. You have 16 medals (14 GOLDS!! and 2 bronze medals)--truly amazing. Hope to see you in four years adding more to your impressive resume!

We CAN Solve It

You may have seen this ad on TV while watching the Olympics recently. I hope you didn't forget to go find out more from their website! Enjoy the Olympics, but don't forget to education yourself about global climate change, and what each of us can do to improve.

While it may seem there is a lot we have changed in this world, and many things have made our life easier and better. We have also made some changes, which have changed the world in a way that makes it harder for our future generations. Please find a way to help improve our world, not damage it.

Lewisburg Clan

Cy, Ryan, Malyka, Jeremy, and Nora came over to my apartment last night to hang out, eat some pizza, meet Kylie, and watch some Olympics. We had a really good time, and I was happy to be able to host all my friends from home in this apartment, because Stacey and I move at the end of the month.

Thanks for coming over!

Quick Kylie Update

Kylie is still WONDERFUL. It seems that she is learning very quickly to walk with Stacey and me. She never begs for food, or goes for it when we accidentally drop it on the floor.

We weighed her (while very un-scientifically) today. She was about 60 lbs!! We are pretty shocked. While she is NOT a tall dog, she is very solid. We knew she was strong and assumed she was more than the 45 lbs her foster family suggested, but 60!!

She slept through the night last night, and she still loves walks. Hopefully she will grow to like chasing a ball, which she has only done inside the house. She is great!!

Peace,
